GESCO acquires specialist for high-quality aluminium die casting tools

Wuppertal, 11 July 2012 – GESCO AG has acquired a 100 % share in Modell Technik GmbH & Co. Formenbau KG, Sömmerda.

Modell Technik develops and produces moulds and tools for the automotive and gas industries. The company specialises in tools for manufacturing complex, large and heavy components. As part of its systematic development towards becoming a full service provider, Modell Technik has significantly expanded its repair and service portfolio. Additionally, the company has its own foundry with efficient die casting presses to test and optimise tools and to produce prototypes, series start-ups and small-scale series for customers.

Modell Technik possesses special expertise when it comes to components such as gear boxes, valve bodies, steering gear housing, cylinder valve covers and structural components such as vehicle doors.

With its efficient construction department, well-equipped machine park and in-house foundry, Modell Technik clearly sets itself apart from the competition.

The company employs 107 people and expects sales of approx. € 12 million in 2012. Just under 20 % of the company’s sales come from export activities.

As part of a succession plan, GESCO AG acquired the shares of managing partner Matthias Huke and two shareholders who are not involved in day-to-day business operations. Mr Huke will remain active within the company as managing director for the next years, securing continuity for the company’s management.

GESCO Executive Board member Dr Hans-Gert Mayrose comments on the acquisition: “Few die casting tool makers in Europe operate on such a high technical level as Modell Technik. Its full service offers customers profound expertise in tool and mould making. With its focus on aluminium die casting, the company currently benefits from the trend towards lightweight construction and is an interesting addition to GESCO Group’s existing tool manufacturing activities.”
